How to fix Josephina hair once daughter has taken it down.

My parents wouldn't let me take Kirsten's hair out as a child and look where I am now. Three other dolls, lots of outfits, and like, nine years later I did. And I loved every moment of it. But still felt a tad guilty. I think that this feeling led to my re-entering collecting and current obsession. And plans for still more dolls. This all could have been prevented if my parents had let me take out Kirsten's hair.

Haha, just kidding. Well, that is totally true, but, I mean it in a funny way.

I would take her hair out brush each section and then re-braid it and loop it immediately, but as time went on, I would experiment more and more, but I never got to the point where I would actually let her hair be not in the two braids. Until about a year ago and I have to say, it felt really nice. And now only rarely does she wear it in the loops.

I misted Josefina's hair a little at first, but now I'm content to let it look funny, with the occasional misting from leave-in wig conditioner that I payed too much for.
These dolls are meant to be played with and, to me, styling the hair is one of the best parts.

I can't help you with Josefina specifically (since I don't have a Josefina doll), but I would recommend that you mist her hair lightly with a spray bottle. Be careful not to get any water into her eyes because they may rust. Then you should try to brush it through and then braid it. It may take a few tries to get it just the way you want it. (I have a Molly doll who is almost always in braided pigtails, and this is what I do.)

Remember to use the AG brush or a "Wig" brush, always start from the bottom.
I found a Josefina at the GW and it took me a couple of hours to brush her hair out.
Be patient and just do a little at a time.

I hope you success with Josefina's braids. You might spray some No More Tangles or another leave on conditioner on the hair if it is too dry.

This is much more drastic than what you probably need to do (especially if the braid has only been out a day!) But I got a hand me down Josefina from a friend and I downey dunked her hair and then straitened it. This way when I rebraided it there were no funny kinks and it was all smoothe and shiny. If her hair ever gets really bad I definitaly recomend this!

My daughter took the braid down and brushed her hair today, and now wants it back the way it was. What is the best way to get it to look good again? Can you mist the hair and braid it, or do I just braid it and let it look kinda funny. Her hair is more poofy than before, since she brushed it. You know kids, you tell them not to take the hair down and had to learn the hard way that sometimes mom is right.

Make SURE you use a wire wig brush (the one from AG or one similar, check Taffy's site for details). Plastic ones will frizz the hair over time!

And yes, lots of water, especially since that makes it easier to braid. My dolls have a squirt bottle just for them.

I have Josefina and I like to change her hairstyle every now and then.
I always mist her hair and use the wire brush till it's nice and smooth. Then I divide her hair into 3 sections and go from there. Just make sure each section has an even amount of hair so the braid will look even. Keeping the hair slightly damp helps when you are braiding too.
